Testing Black Myth Wukong: 4K Capabilities on PlayStation 5

Alright, let’s jaw about this Black Myth Wukong game on that there PS5, ya know, the fancy game box. Folks keep askin’ if it can do that 4K thing. Well, lemme tell ya what I heard, it ain’t always so straightforward.

First off, they say this here game, it’s a big’un. Takes up a whole heap of space on that there PS5, like 104GB they say. That’s a lot of room, more than my old photo albums, I tell ya! Anyways, the picture quality, that 4K stuff, it depends.

Seems like there’s different ways to play it. You got your 4K at 30 frames per second. Now, 30 frames, that just means how smooth the picture moves. Thirty ain’t bad, but it ain’t the smoothest neither. Then you got your 1440p at 60 frames. That 1440p, it ain’t quite 4K, but it’s still pretty sharp. And 60 frames, well that’s smoother, like butter on a hot biscuit, some folks say.

  • 4K at 30FPS: Nice and sharp picture, but the movement might not be as smooth.
  • 1440p at 60FPS: Picture’s not quite as sharp as 4K, but the movement is real smooth.

Now, some young’uns, they get all worked up about these frames. They say 30 frames is too jumpy, makes ’em dizzy or somethin’. But me, I don’t see much difference. Long as I can see what’s goin’ on, that’s good enough for me. Back in my day, we didn’t have no frames, just good ol’ fashioned pictures, and we were happy with that!

This PS5, it can do fancy things, like that 120Hz they talk about. But from what I hear, not many games use it yet, and your TV gotta be special too. It’s all a bit complicated, if you ask me. Too much fussin’ over numbers and such. Just play the game, I say!

Some folks were jabberin’ on about how to set your PS5 to make sure it’s showing the best picture. Said you gotta go into the settings and look at the screen and video stuff. Make sure it’s set to 4K if you want that fancy picture. But not every game can do 4K, ya know. Some games, they just ain’t built for it, or they gotta do some tricks to make it work.

They talk about somethin’ called dynamic resolution and checkerboard renderin’. Sounds like fancy talk to me, but I guess it means the game is fakin’ it a bit, makin’ the picture look better than it really is. Like puttin’ lipstick on a pig, you know? Still, if it looks good, it looks good, I ain’t complainin’.

And then there’s talk about this PS5 Pro, somethin’ even fancier. They say that one can do 60 frames or even 120 frames on some games. But that’s for the future, I reckon. Right now, we gotta make do with what we got.

So, can Black Myth Wukong run in 4K on PS5? Well, yes and no. It can do 4K at 30 frames, or you can get smoother movement with a lower resolution. It’s up to you to decide what you like better. Me? I’d just play the darn game and not worry so much about all them fancy numbers.

And don’t even get me started on them computer fellas. They’re always braggin’ ’bout how their machines are better, but it just sounds like a lot of hot air to me. They say this game takes up even more space on their computers, more than 24GB extra! What a waste, I tell ya. All that space just for a game. Back in my day, we had fun with rocks and sticks, and we didn’t need no fancy computers or 4K or nothin’.

Anyways, the young’uns say you can mess with the settings on the PS5 and on the game itself to try and get the best performance. But I say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just put the game in and play. That’s what I would do, if I was playin’ video games, which I ain’t. Too busy, I tell ya, too busy.
