Well now, let me tell ya about these paint by numbers angels, alright? It’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. Never thought I’d be messin’ with paint and such, but here we are. Used to be, pictures were just somethin’ you hung on the wall, didn’t think much about how they got there. But now, heck, I’m makin’ ’em myself!
First time I saw one of them kits, I thought, “What in tarnation is this?” All them little numbers and tiny pots of paint. Looked like a whole lotta fuss to me. But my niece, she got one for her birthday and she was just goin’ at it, happy as a clam. And the picture, when she was done, well, it was right purdy. A real nice angel, all bright and shiny.
So, I figured, what the heck, I’ll give it a try. Got myself one of them angel kits, the kind with a big, flowy-winged angel. Seemed like a good place to start, ya know? Angels are nice. Opened it up and it was a bit overwhelming at first, all them little lines and numbers. But then I just started, one little spot at a time. Number one goes with this color, number two with that color. Simple as pie, once you get the hang of it.
And let me tell ya, it’s kinda…relaxin’. You just sit there, focusin’ on them little numbers and the paint, and you kinda forget about everything else. Forget about the weeds in the garden, forget about the leaky faucet, forget about that darn rooster crowin’ at the crack of dawn. It’s just you and the paint and the angel.
Now, I ain’t no artist, mind you. Never could draw a straight line even if my life depended on it. But with these paint by numbers things, it don’t matter none. You just follow the numbers and the picture just appears, like magic. It’s kinda like cheatin’, but in a good way, ya know?
- First, you lay out all your paints and brushes. They give ya everything you need right there in the kit.
- Then you find a good spot to work, where the light’s good and you won’t be bothered.
- And then you just start paintin’! One number at a time, nice and slow.
And the best part? When you’re done, you got yourself a picture! A real picture, that you made with your own two hands. And it looks good, too! My angel, she turned out real nice. Hanging up there on my wall, brightenin’ up the whole room. Makes me smile every time I see her.
They got all kinds of these kits, too. Not just angels, but flowers and animals and all sorts of things. I even saw one with a picture of a dang ol’ tractor! Might have to try that one next. But the angels, they’re my favorite. They’re just so peaceful and pretty.
I heard some folks sayin’ these kits are good for kids too, keepin’ ’em busy and teachin’ ’em somethin’ at the same time. And I reckon that’s true. Heck, it’s good for old folks like me too! Gives ya somethin’ to do, keeps your mind sharp, and you end up with a nice picture to boot. Can’t beat that, can ya?
And you don’t need to spend a whole lot of money neither. I got mine on sale, and I’ve seen ‘em at all sorts of places, even online. They even deliver ‘em right to your door! Ain’t that somethin’? Back in my day, you had to go all the way to the store for everything. Now you can just sit in your armchair and order whatever you want. Times sure have changed.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, somethin’ to keep you busy and maybe even learn a little somethin’ new, I say give these paint by numbers angels a try. You might just surprise yourself. I sure did. Never thought I’d be paintin’ pictures, but here I am, a regular artist! Well, maybe not a regular artist, but I got a picture to prove I can paint somethin’ pretty, and that’s good enough for me.
Anyways, I gotta go now. Got a new kit with a little baby angel in it, and I can’t wait to get started. Gonna put that one right next to the big angel on the wall. They’ll look real nice together, I reckon. Just like a little family of angels, watchin’ over me.
