Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this WoW SOD thingy, the warrior kind, you know, the ones that swing big swords and yell a lot. My grandson, he’s always yappin’ about it, so I figured I’d try to make sense of it for ya, even though I ain’t got a clue half the time.
So, they got these things called runes, see? Like magic stickers or somethin’, I guess. They stick ’em on their armor, and bam! They get stronger, faster, or whatever. My grandson says there are a bunch of new ones, seven, I think he said, in this new “phase three” thingamajig.
- He said some go on the head, like a hat, I reckon. Four of ’em, that’s a lot of head stickers, if you ask me.
- Then there’s two for the wrists, like bracelets, but for fightin’.
- And one for the boots, so you can kick harder, maybe? I dunno.
Now, these runes, they ain’t just lyin’ around. You gotta go find ’em, or do somethin’ special to get ’em. My grandson was goin’ on and on about some place called Burning Steppes. Sounds hot, like when I used to make them big batches of apple butter on the wood stove. Anyway, he said you gotta go to this Blackrock place and beat up five bad guys, one after another, no stoppin’. Then you get some kinda “fresh meat” rune. Sounds messy, if you ask me.
And then there’s this whole “talent” thing. Seems like you gotta pick and choose what kind of warrior you wanna be. You wanna be the one that does all the hurtin’, the DPS they call it, or the one that takes all the hits, the tank. Reminds me of them bulls back on the farm, some are mean and charge, others just stand there and take it.
For the hurtin’ kind, the DPS warrior, they got special ways to set up them talents, make ’em hit harder and faster. My grandson showed me some charts, looked like chicken scratch to me, but he said it’s important. Said it shows the “best” way to do it. Best way to what? Beat up pixels on a screen? Kids these days…
And if you wanna be the tank warrior, the one that’s like a brick wall, well, they got different talents and runes for that too. Gotta make yourself tough, hard to kill. Guess that’s important if you’re gonna be standin’ in front of a big ol’ dragon or somethin’. Never seen a dragon myself, but my grandson says they’re all over the place in this WoW thing.
He keeps talkin’ about “Season of Discovery,” like it’s some kinda special time. I guess they keep changin’ things, addin’ new runes, makin’ it all different. Keeps him busy, that’s for sure. Better than him gettin’ into trouble, I s’pose.
So, that’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell. Warriors, runes, talents, DPS, tanks… sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me. But if it keeps my grandson happy and outta trouble, well, I guess I can’t complain too much. Just wish he’d spend more time outside, get some fresh air. These video games, they ain’t natural, I tell ya.
And all this talk about “builds”? Sounds like buildin’ a barn, but it’s all just…not real. Back in my day, if you wanted to build somethin’ you got real wood and real nails! Not…pixels and whatchamacallits. But he seems to have fun, and he tells me all about it, even if I don’t understand half of what he’s sayin’. He says these runes are important, so they must be. Just like how important it was to make sure the cows were milked on time, or the chickens got fed. Different times, I guess, but same kinda important, if you catch my drift.
Now, he was mumblin’ somethin’ about PvE. Said it means “player versus environment”. Like…fightin’ the computer, I think. And that’s what these builds are for, helpin’ you fight the computer monsters better. Seems complicated. Back in my day, the only “environment” we fought was weeds in the garden and the occasional grumpy rooster.
And another thing! He keeps sayin’ “spec”. Said it’s short for “specialization”. Like pickin’ what job you wanna do. Just like pickin’ between milkin’ cows and churnin’ butter, I reckon. Only with more swords and less cows.
Well, I’m tired of all this talk about warriors and runes. Time for me to go make some supper. Maybe I’ll make my grandson some of that apple butter he likes. He can eat it while he’s busy fightin’ his pixel dragons. At least the apple butter is real.
Oh, and he said somethin’ about “WoW Classic” too. Said it’s like…the old version of the game. Sounds like when they play them old records on the radio. Some folks like the old stuff, I guess. Me? I prefer the new fangled stuff, like these electric lights instead of oil lamps. But to each their own, I always say.
Anyway, that’s all I know about this here WoW SOD warrior stuff. If you wanna know more, you’ll have to ask my grandson. Just be prepared for a whole lotta jargon and fancy talk. He’s a good boy, though. Just a little obsessed with his video games.
