Alright, let’s gab about these here electric running boards. You know, those things that pop out when you open your car door? Yeah, them. I seen ‘em on them fancy trucks in town, the ones that cost more than my whole darn house, I betcha.
First off, what in tarnation are they good for? Well, I reckon they’re for climbin’ into them big ol’ trucks. You know, the ones so high up you need a ladder to get in. These running boards, they come out like a little magic step, so you don’t gotta go jumpin’ and huffin’ and puffin’ just to get in your car. My knees ain’t what they used to be, so I can see why folks like ’em.
Now, I hear tell there’s all sorts of fancy ones. Some got lights on ‘em, so you can see where you’re steppin’ at night. That ain’t a bad idea, I tell ya. Nothin’ worse than steppin’ in somethin’ you don’t wanna step in, if you catch my drift. And some, they just fold up real neat and tidy, so they don’t get all caked in mud and snow. That’s a good thing too, ’cause nobody wants to be scrapin’ mud off their car all the time.

But here’s the thing, these running boards, they ain’t cheap. I heard tell they can cost ya a pretty penny. Some of ’em cost more than my old Bessie, and she’s a good car, even if she does sputter a bit sometimes. And then you gotta get ‘em put on, which is another thing altogether. If you’re handy, maybe you can do it yourself. But if you’re like me and can barely change a lightbulb without callin’ my nephew, you’re gonna need to pay someone to do it for ya. And that ain’t cheap either.
So, are they worth it? Well, I reckon it depends. If you got one of them big ol’ trucks and you’re climbin’ in and out all day, then maybe so. Especially if you got bad knees or a bad back, like half the folks in my town. But if you just got a regular car, and you can get in and out just fine, then maybe you don’t need ‘em. It’s all about what you need and what you can afford, I guess. It’s your money, you spend it how you want.
I also heard these electric running boards are easier to keep clean than the regular ones. That makes sense, I guess. They fold up under the car, so they don’t get all dirty. And that’s a good thing, ’cause nobody wants to be cleanin’ their car all the time. I got better things to do with my time, like watchin’ my stories and gossiping with the gals down at the diner.
Now, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ these fancy runnin’ boards, you gotta do your homework. Don’t just go buyin’ the first ones you see. There’s all sorts of different kinds, and you gotta find the ones that fit your car and your budget. And you gotta make sure they’re good quality, so they don’t fall apart on ya after a few months. Ain’t nothin’ worse than spendin’ good money on somethin’ that breaks right away.
And you know what else? If you’re gonna get these things, maybe you should get the ones with them lights. Like I said before, it’s mighty handy to see where you’re steppin’ at night. And it just looks fancy, too. Not that I care much about fancy, mind you. But if you’re gonna spend the money, you might as well get all the bells and whistles, right? At least that’s what my grandson tells me, and he knows all about these newfangled contraptions.
So, there you have it. My two cents on these here electric running boards. They ain’t for everyone, that’s for sure. But if you need ’em, and you can afford ’em, they might just be worth it. Just make sure you do your research and get the right ones for your car. And don’t forget them lights! And for goodness sake, get someone who knows what they are doing to install ‘em! Don’t want you falling on your behind.
