Well, howdy there! You wanna know ’bout them tiki totem poles, huh? Alright, gather ’round, and I’ll tell ya what I know. Ain’t no fancy talk here, just plain speakin’.
So, you’re lookin’ to buy a tiki totem pole, eh? First thing’s first, you gotta figure out what kinda pole you want. They got all sorts, big ones, small ones, some that light up like a Christmas tree, and some that just stand there lookin’ all… tiki-like. You can find ’em just about everywhere these days, even on that there inter-web thingy. eBay, they got a whole mess of ’em. Says right there they got “the best deals” and “free shippin’.” Can’t beat that, I reckon.
Now, some of them poles are for your garden, they call ’em “outdoor tiki statues.” Got little lights on ’em, solar powered, so you don’t gotta be fussin’ with no wires. They got these little Hawaiian fella ones, too. Cute as a button, some of ’em. Prices all over the place, though. Seen some for ten bucks, seen some for a hundred. Heck, even seen one for over a hundred and fifty! Guess it depends on how fancy you wanna get.
Then there’s them places like “Style Hawaii.” They got “unique” ones, they say. Probably means they ain’t like the ones you find at the dollar store. And if you’re havin’ a party, a luau or somethin’, they got these cardboard cutouts. Big ol’ seven-footers, three of ’em in a pack. Been makin’ them since nineteen-hundred, they say. Must be doin’ somethin’ right, I guess.

But let’s say you want somethin’ special, somethin’ real. You can get a custom-made tiki totem pole. Yeah, you heard right! Some folks carve ’em outta real logs, cured and everything. You gotta call ’em up or send ’em one of them e-mails, tell ’em what you want. They’ll make it just for you. Now, that ain’t gonna be cheap, mind you. But it’ll be one of a kind, somethin’ you can pass down to your grandkids, or sell it on eBay when you get tired of lookin’ at it.
If you want somethin’ handmade, you gotta look around. Some folks sell ’em on Etsy, or maybe at them craft fairs. They got all sorts, wall hangings, little figurines, big ol’ poles. You just gotta find one that speaks to ya. And don’t worry about if it’s “culturally appropriate” or not. If you like it, you buy it. That’s what I say. They been makin’ them poles for ages, tellin’ stories ’bout families and such. Mostly outta cedar wood, I hear. Still makin’ ’em today, too. Good for them, I reckon.
So, there ya have it. A little bit ’bout tiki totem poles. You can buy ’em cheap, you can buy ’em expensive, you can even get one made just for you. Just gotta figure out what you want and how much you wanna spend. And remember, ain’t nothin’ wrong with a little tiki in your life. Makes things a bit more…interestin’, ya know?
Now, go on and get yourself a tiki totem pole. And don’t forget to haggle a bit, specially if you’re buyin’ from one of them flea markets. They expect it, ya know. Good luck, and happy tiki-ing!
