Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this Motherpeace Tarot. It ain’t like them other picture cards, no sirree. First off, they’re round, like a big ol’ pancake. Round, you hear? Not square like most things. They say it’s ‘cause the moon is round, and the moon, she’s a woman, powerful and all. That’s what the book says, anyway.
Now, I ain’t no scholar, but I heard tell of these other cards, like that Rider-Waite and that Marseilles. Folks make a big fuss over ’em. Rider-Waite, that’s the one most folks use, I reckon. Got all them pictures and symbols, easy to understand, even for a simple gal like me. Then there’s that Marseilles, old-timey stuff, from way back when. Frenchified, they say. But this Motherpeace, it’s different. It’s got its own way of doin’ things.
- First off, the pictures, they’re all… curvy. Lots of women, naked as the day they were born, mostly. Ain’t nothin’ shameful about it, mind you. It’s just… different. Not like them stiff, proper pictures in the other decks.
- And the colors, they’re bright, real bright. Like a flower garden in the springtime. Lots of reds and yellows and blues, all mixed up together. Makes you feel kinda happy just lookin’ at ’em.
- Then there’s the meanin’s. They ain’t always the same as them other cards. Like, the Empress card, she’s all about takin’ care of yourself and makin’ things grow. Nurturing, they call it. That’s somethin’ I can understand. Gotta nurture them chickens and that garden, or they ain’t gonna give you nothin’ back.
Take that Wheel of Fortune card, for example. In some decks, it’s all complicated, with wheels and creatures and whatnot. But in this Motherpeace, it’s simpler. It’s about your destiny, your luck. Whether you’re gonna have a good day or a bad day, that sort of thing. And it can be flipped, you know, meanin’ different things dependin’ on how it lands. Like most things in life, I guess. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down.
They say this Motherpeace deck was made by women, for women. To make ‘em feel strong and powerful. And I guess it does that, in its own way. It ain’t for everyone, mind you. Some folks like things straight and narrow, easy to understand. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, somethin’ a little wild, this might be just the ticket.
It ain’t always easy to read, though. The pictures, they can be a bit… much. And the book, it’s got all these fancy words and ideas. But you don’t need to understand all that to get somethin’ out of it. Sometimes, it’s just about lookin’ at the pictures and feelin’ what they’re tryin’ to tell you. Listenin’ to your gut, you know? That’s somethin’ we all can do, even us old ladies.
I remember one time, I pulled that Empress card when I was feelin’ real down in the dumps. Felt like I couldn’t do nothin’ right. But that card, it reminded me to take care of myself. To be kind to myself. And it worked! I went and baked myself a pie, sat out on the porch, and just enjoyed the sunshine. Felt a whole lot better after that, I tell ya.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a different kind of tarot deck, one that’s gonna shake things up a bit, give this Motherpeace a try. It might just surprise you. It ain’t for the faint of heart, mind you.
