Haven Free Clinic Run 2023: What’s it all about?
Alright, so, listen up. This here Haven Free Clinic thing, they’re havin’ a run in 2023. I heard some folks talkin’ ‘bout it down at the store. Seems like these young’uns from Yale, them smarty-pants doctors and nurses in trainin’, they run this clinic. Been doin’ it for a good long while now, twenty years they say. That’s a lot of time, even for an old gal like me.
Now, what do they do at this clinic? Well, it ain’t rocket science. They help folks who don’t got no insurance. You know, them regular folks like you and me, who can’t always afford to see a doctor when they get sick. These students, they give ‘em check-ups and medicine and all that doctor stuff. And they do it for free! Can you believe that? Free! In this day and age? It’s a darn good thing they’re doin’, I tell ya.
This here run, it’s to raise money, I reckon. They need money to buy them pills and bandages and such. It’s called a 5K, whatever that means. Sounds like a long walk to me, but these youngsters, they run it! They say it’s the “ANDA 5K.” Don’t ask me what ANDA stands for, probably somethin’ fancy.
- Who’s running this thing? Them Yale students, mostly. Doctors, nurses, and I guess whoever else wants to join in. You can even run it yourself, if you’re up for it. They say you can do it “virtually” too, which sounds like somethin’ you do on that there computer thing.
- Why are they doin’ it? Like I said, money! They need money to keep that clinic runnin’. Help folks who need it. It’s a good cause, I guess. Better than them young’uns just sittin’ around and doin’ nothin’.
- When is this run? Sometime in 2023, I heard. Don’t know the exact date, but I’m sure if you look around you’ll find it. They probably got posters up and stuff, you know how these things go.
They been doin’ this run for a while now, ten years they say. That’s a long time to be runnin’ around, if you ask me. My knees would be killin’ me. But hey, these kids got the energy, let ‘em use it for somethin’ good.
It sounds like they started this clinic a while back. A bunch of students got together and decided they wanted to help folks. They went around to different clinics, askin’ for help and advice. Smart kids, those ones. Figured they couldn’t do it all by themselves.
Now, this clinic ain’t just some little hole-in-the-wall operation, neither. They got all sorts of folks helpin’ out. Doctors, nurses, public health folks… the whole shebang. They’re partnered up with Yale, which is a big deal, I reckon. Means they got smart people and fancy equipment and all that. It’s a good thing for the folks in New Haven, that’s for sure.
