Alright, so you wanna know about joining that student-run health clinic, the one they call Lewis Katz, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t rocket science. It’s all about helpin’ folks, plain and simple. You wanna be a doctor or somethin’ like that? This is a good place to start, I reckon.
First off, they got all sorts of things goin’ on over there. I heard tell they got speakers comin’ in, talkin’ about all sorts of medical stuff. Learn a lot, that way. And they do those health fairs, you know, where they give shots and check people over. Even go to the little schoolhouse to do it. Kids need lookin’ after, that’s for sure.
Now, if you’re one of them pre-health students, the ones still learnin’ the ropes, this is a real good deal for you. They say you can get some hands-on experience, workin’ in the hospitals and such. Ain’t gotta pay nothin’ for it neither, which is a blessin’ these days. Everything costs a fortune, you know?
- They got this big building, the Medical Education Research Building, up on Broad Street in Philadelphia. That’s where a lot of the learnin’ happens, I guess.
- And they do all sorts of fancy stuff, like explorin’ that anesthesia stuff and messin’ with DNA. Sounds complicated to me, but those young folks are smart these days.
I heard about this one fella, a medical student, Jake somethin’-or-other. When that COVID thing hit, they shut down his clinic, so he had to take his classes online. Tough times, those were. But he kept at it, bless his heart. Shows you gotta be dedicated if you wanna be a doctor.
They even got online courses now, for that EMT stuff. You can learn it all right from your own home, even if you live way out in Charlotte, North Carolina, or wherever. Ain’t that somethin’? The world’s changin’ so fast, it’s hard to keep up.
And get this, those fancy medical students at that Lewis Katz school, they all got these newfangled ultrasound thingamajigs. And stethoscopes, too, with the school’s name on ‘em. Must be nice to have all that fancy equipment. Back in my day, we just had a doctor’s bag and a good ear.
So, how do you join? Well, it sounds like you just gotta get involved. If you’re a freshman, they say you should join clubs, find somethin’ you’re interested in. That’s how you meet people, learn the ropes. And if you’re really serious about this health clinic thing, you gotta go find the folks in charge, let ‘em know you wanna help. Don’t be shy now. They need all the help they can get, I reckon. It’s all about helping those in need. Whether young or old, rich or poor, everyone deserves a good doctor or nurse or whatever it is those Lewis Katz folks are doing.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You wanna learn? You gotta ask. And don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, neither. That’s the best way to learn, in my opinion. This ain’t no desk job, you know? You gotta be willin’ to roll up your sleeves and get to work. But if you’re passionate about helpin’ folks, this is the place for you, I tell ya.
And remember, it ain’t just about the learnin’, it’s about the carin’. You gotta care about people if you wanna be in the medical field. It ain’t always easy, but it’s worth it in the end. So go on, get out there and make a difference. The world needs more folks who care, that’s for sure.
