My runes, oh boy, they can be upgraded! Ain’t that somethin’? I tell ya, these things, they got a mind of their own. But I figured it out, how to make ’em better. Stronger. Just like my old man used to say, “Gotta work with what ya got.”
First, I needed this thing called a Yellow Turban Soldier’s Rune. Don’t ask me what it means, it just is what it is. I got one. It was just lying there, like a lost puppy. Then, I had to beat up a bunch of those rune monsters. One hundred of ’em! My arms were tired, I tell ya, like I’d been churnin’ butter all day. But I did it, all by my lonesome. Solo, they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
- Get that Yellow Turban Soldier’s Rune
- Beat up 100 of them rune monsters, all alone!
- Then them wild boars… oh boy…
And then, the wild boars. Five thousand times, I had to whack ’em, right on the head. One hit, that’s all they gave me. Five thousand! My back ached, my hands were sore, I was seeing those boars in my sleep! But I kept at it. One after another. Whack, whack, whack. Like beatin’ a rug, only these rugs fight back, sometimes! But I tell ya, finally, I was done. Felt like I wrestled a bear and won.
So, I had this other rune, see? My Core Rune, they call it. Important, that one. Like the heart of the whole thing. I put that Yellow Turban Soldier rune right on top of it. Like stackin’ pancakes, only these pancakes make magic or somethin’. And then, poof! Somethin’ happened. I don’t know, felt a little rumble or somethin’. But suddenly they changed the name of my rune. They call ’em Yellow Turban Warriors now. Sounds tougher, don’t it?
They say it went from “ordinary” to “premium”. Sounds like fancy talk for “better”. Like goin’ from plain old taters to them fancy mashed potatoes with the gravy. I reckon it means my runes are stronger now. Like they’ve been eatin’ their greens. That upgrade did the trick, alright. That means my runes are stronger than they were before. They used to be the regular kind, like the ones everybody else has. But now they are the premium kind. Ain’t that somethin’? That’s like going from wearing your old, patched-up work clothes to wearing your Sunday best!
I hear tell there’s other ways to make these runes better. There are some Runes at numbers 1-21, and some at numbers 22-33. It is like pickin’ the best apples from the tree. You gotta find the right ones, the ones that are ripe and ready. And you gotta have three of the lower number ones to make one of the higher number ones. It’s like tradin’ in your old chickens for a younger, stronger one! Or you can have two of the higher number ones to make one that is even higher. It’s like using your best milk cows to breed an even better one! You need to have some special stones, Smithing Stones. You need to use those stones to make your weapons better.
There are also these Elion/Hadum Runes. You need 100 Luminescent Crystals and some silver for each upgrade. Ain’t that somethin’? And if you upgrade it enough, they call it a Primal Rune. That means it’s real strong, like the old oak tree in my backyard. Took years to get that big and strong, but now nothin’ can knock it down. And that’s what I want my runes to be. Strong, unshakeable. Like me.
All in all, it’s a lot of work, these runes. But I reckon it’s worth it. Gotta keep up with the times, even if it means beatin’ up monsters and whacking wild boars till your arms fall off. These runes, they’re a part of me now. And if they can be upgraded, well then, so can I. It is like plantin’ seeds in the spring. You gotta tend to ’em, water ’em, and give ’em sunshine. Then, come harvest time, you got a bounty of good food. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it in the end. And these runes are like that. They are like my little seeds, and I’m gonna make sure they grow up big and strong!
Some people put their runes in a fancy box called the Horadric Cube. Sounds complicated to me. They say you can get your runes from the Hateno Ancient Research Lab. Up on the plateau, they say. That’s like sayin’ you can find the best fish in the deepest part of the river. You gotta know where to look, and you gotta be willin’ to get your feet wet. This Purah, she is the one who upgrades your runes. You have to bring her these guardian parts. I do not know what they are, but they must be important.
It takes a lot of Runes to upgrade a weapon. I hear it takes 129,000 Runes to upgrade a weapon to +24! That’s a lot of anything, if you ask me. More than I’ve ever seen in my whole life. And those Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, you can only get 13 in one go. Then you gotta start all over again, like a new year on the farm. New crops, new chores. But that’s life, ain’t it? Always somethin’ new comin’ around the bend.
And I’m gonna keep learnin’, keep growin’, just like my runes. ‘Cause that’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? Gettin’ better, stronger, every day. Like a good, hearty stew, simmerin’ on the stove, gettin’ tastier with every passing hour. And me, I am the best cook you know.
