Upgrading with Pathfinder 2E Weapon Runes (Everything You Need to Know in One Place)
This here thing, you call it Pathfinder 2e weapon runes, it’s like when we fix up our old farm tools, make ’em work better, you see? You gotta know what you’re doin’, or you’ll mess it all up. These runes, they ain’t just fancy marks. They got power, like the good luck charms we used to hang on the barn door, but different.
First thing, you got these plus one runes, they call ’em “fundamental.” Like the foundation of a house, gotta have that strong. You can slap those on any old thing, a rusty sword, a dented shield, don’t matter. Makes ’em tougher, hit harder. That’s good, right? Makes that old Smoking Sword you found in the attic useable when you’re strong enough to fight dragons. We used to mend our tools with whatever we had, twine, bits of leather. This is like that, but with magic.
Now, if you already got a fancy weapon, somethin’ shiny with magic already in it, you gotta upgrade them runes one by one. It ain’t like patchin’ a hole in your overalls, where one patch does the job. Each rune, it’s like a different ingredient in a stew, gotta add ’em just right. If you upgrade to a +2 weapon potency rune, you can put on more property runes.
- Add a +1 rune, it’s like puttin’ a new handle on your hoe.
- Add a striking rune, that’s like sharpenin’ the blade, makes it cut better.
- You can find these runes all over, like findin’ wild berries in the woods.
They say you gotta prioritize, like when you’re harvestin’ crops. You pick the ripe ones first, right? Same here. You work on them “fundamental” runes first, the potency and the striking. Them’s the important ones. Like when we salt the meat, gotta do that first to keep it from spoilin’. Gotta get that base strong, then you can worry about the other stuff.
And then there’s this thing about critical, and dealing damage to a bunch of enemies at once. I ain’t too clear on that, but it sounds like when you swing a scythe and cut down a whole row of wheat. If you like that kind of thing, focus on that after you get your fundamentals down.
This whole thing, it takes time. Ain’t like plantin’ seeds and seein’ sprouts the next day. They say it takes a whole day to move these runes around, switch ’em out. We used to spend days mendin’ fences, one post at a time. Patience, that’s what you need. And if you keep at it, you can save some money, like gettin’ a discount at the general store for buyin’ in bulk.
Gotta find all these things, too. Bell Bearings, Smithing Stones, Runes to upgrade your weapon… sounds like a scavenger hunt to me. And 129,000 Runes? That’s a lot of money! Then, only 13 of these Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in one go, and you gotta start all over to get more. It’s like findin’ a four-leaf clover, rare and lucky.
There are different types of weapons, different types of worn items. I guess there are also different types of runes. There’s a lot to keep track of, like when we had to remember which chickens laid which eggs.
To put the runes on your weapon, they say you go to a crafting table. It’s probably one of those fancy tables, not like the one we used to butcher hogs on. Your weapon will glow and then you put the rune on it. After that, you can test it out. Sounds simple enough, I guess.
This whole Pathfinder 2e weapon runes thing, it’s complicated. But I reckon if you take it slow, learn the basics, you’ll figure it out. Just like learnin’ to can vegetables, takes practice. And remember, a strong foundation, that’s the key. Just like a good, strong house, or a good, strong back for haulin’ water from the well. You got that, you can handle anything.
One more thing about these runes. You need to know that a weapon can have as many property runes as the value of its potency rune. Say, you got a +1 weapon, it can have one property rune. If you upgrade that +1 weapon potency rune to a +2 weapon potency rune, it can hold one more property rune. Makes sense, don’t it?
So, this is all I got to say about that Pathfinder 2e weapon runes thingamajig. There is a lot more to it. If I can understand it, anybody can. It is simple as that. Now I am going to get some rest.
