This here wall, it needs somethin’, you know? Just starin’ at it, makes me tired. My boy, he’s always talkin’ ’bout wall water features. Says it’ll make the place look fancy. I don’t know ’bout fancy, but somethin’ movin’ and splashin’ would be nice.
Wall Water Features, Sounds Interestin’
He showed me pictures on that phone of his. Lots of ’em, these wall water features. Some just a little trickle, like a leaky faucet. Others, whoosh! Like a whole river comin’ outta the wall! Don’t know if I need that much, might scare the chickens.
But that sound, you know? The sound of water. Reminds me of the creek down by old man Johnson’s place. Used to sit there for hours, just listenin’. Peaceful, it was. Maybe this wall water feature thing could bring a little of that peace back.
My boy says there’s different kinds. Some made of that shiny metal stuff. Some look like rocks, all piled up. He keeps using that word, “spa.” What is a “spa,” anyway? Is that what these rich folks call a bathtub?
- Spouts things, he called ’em.
- Make the water come out.
- Different shapes, he says.
He says you can put ’em in a pool, too. We ain’t got no pool. Just that old metal tub we use for washin’ clothes. Maybe if I win the lottery, I’ll get me a real pool. And then I’ll put one of them fancy wall water features in it, too.
He says it’s good for somethin’ called “ah-qwa-scape.” Sounds like a mouthful. He says it makes the place look nice. Says it’s like bringin’ nature inside. I guess nature is good. Though, we got plenty of nature out here already. Bugs and squirrels and whatnot.
Lots of Choices for Wall Water Features, I Reckon
He talked about water feature kits. I reckon that means all the bits and bobs you need come together. That’s good. I ain’t gettin’ any younger, climbin’ around tryin’ to put things together. Just point me where it goes and I’ll supervise.
He also said somethin’ about water treatments and water conditioners. Now, that sounds like a lot of fuss. Just plain old water worked fine for me all these years. But he says it keeps the water clean. Don’t want no green, slimy water, I suppose. Especially if I get that pool someday.
Then there’s these fountain pumps. That’s the thing that makes the water go, I guess. Like a little heart, beatin’ away, pushin’ the water up and out. He showed me one, small little thing. Said it could move a whole lot of water. Technology these days, I tell ya.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have none of these fancy things. If you wanted runnin’ water you hauled it up in the pail. Still, it’s kinda nice to think about havin’ somethin’ pretty like that on the wall.
Heard them wall water features can be big or small. One for every place, I reckon. Mine wouldn’t need to be too big. Just somethin’ to make a little noise, somethin’ to look at besides them darn weeds growin’ in the yard.
Heard they got lights for them, too. Shine ’em at night. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Like havin’ your own little moon right there on the wall, all sparkly and wet. Might keep them darn raccoons away, too.
Wall Water Features Ain’t a Bad Idea
I asked him how much these wall water features cost. He just mumbled somethin’ about “depends.” Depends on what, I don’t know. Guess it depends if you want a little trickle or a whole darn waterfall. Maybe I’ll just start with a little one. See how it goes.
Yeah, a wall water feature. It’s growin’ on me, this idea. Might just be what this old place needs. A little somethin’ special. A little somethin’ to remind me of that creek, and simpler times. A little somethin’ to make me smile when I’m sittin’ on the porch, sippin’ my tea. Yep, I think I might just get me one of them wall water features after all.
Don’t know when though, depends how much that boy wants to help his old momma out, eh? He better get on it before winter comes, winter is too cold for that kind of project. We’ll see, we’ll see… Maybe this summer will be the right time for one of them there wall water features. It will be good for this old house, I know it.
