St Lawrence Poker Run 6/20/2024: How to Join the Fun? Here is your guide on the best poker run on the river

Alright, so, I gotta tell you about this St. Lawrence Poker Run I did back on June 20th, 2024. Man, what a day! It was a real blast and I am still jazzed about it, I just need to tell everyone all the details.

First off, I woke up early, like way earlier than I usually do on a weekday. I am not an early bird, but I needed to make sure I got there on time since I drove there from far away. I was hyped, I always wanted to participate this event. You know, the 1000 Islands area is beautiful, and I’d heard so much about this event. So, I grabbed a quick breakfast, chugged down some coffee, and hit the road. The drive was pretty smooth, and I got there just in time to see all these boats lined up. I really wish I had a boat but I don’t, so I decided to enjoy this event as a spectator.

Seeing these boats, all shiny and powerful, lined up at the docks was a sight. People were buzzing around, checking out each other’s rides, and there was this cool vibe of excitement and camaraderie. I met a few folks, and everyone was super friendly, sharing stories about their boats and past poker runs. Some of them are veterans of this event. They come here every year. I wish I could be one of them next year.

The poker run itself was a blast to watch. Boats zoomed off from the starting point, and you could feel the energy in the air. I moved around to different spots to get the best views. The Brockville stop for lunch seemed like a hotspot, with lots of people gathering to watch the boats and enjoy the festivities. This was actually my favorite part. I took some good pictures there.

I spent the day soaking it all in, chatting with people, and just enjoying the atmosphere. It was cool to see how such a big event came together, especially knowing it was all run by volunteers. They did an awesome job, keeping everything organized and fun. They worked very hard to make sure everyone was having fun and safe.

Learned Something New

  • Learned that this was the 36th year for the 1000 Islands Poker Run. That’s some serious history!
  • Found out there are actually over 1,800 islands in that area. Who knew?
  • Discovered that this poker run is one of the biggest waterfront festivals around.

By the end of the day, I was pretty tired but in that good way, you know? I grabbed some dinner at a local spot, thinking about all the cool stuff I’d seen and the people I’d met. It was definitely a day to remember, and I’m already thinking about going back next year. Maybe I’ll even have my own boat by then, who knows? I will start saving for a boat from today. That will be my next goal!

Anyway, that’s my story of the St. Lawrence Poker Run. If you ever get a chance to check it out, do it. It’s a blast!
