Okay, so I got these new tarot cards the other day, and I’ve been itching to try them out. I’ve always been kind of curious about tarot, but never really took the plunge, you know?
Get my first tarot deck
So, first things first, I went online and looked for a deck that I liked. There are so many out there, it’s kind of crazy! But I finally found one with artwork that I thought was really cool and it just kind of spoke to me. I read that it’s important to choose a deck that you’re drawn to, so that’s what I did. It’s called the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot Deck, the images are clear and easy to understand.
Learn about the tarot cards
Next, I spent some time just looking at the cards and reading the little booklet that came with them. Apparently, there are 78 cards in total, split into two groups: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana cards are like the big themes, while the Minor Arcana cards are more about the day-to-day stuff.
Practice reading them
Once I felt like I had a basic understanding of the cards, I decided to try a simple one-card reading. I set up a little space on my desk with a candle and some crystals, just to make it feel a bit more special. Then I shuffled the cards while thinking about a question I had, and pulled out one card.
The card I got was The Magician, which I learned is all about manifestation and using your skills. It was actually pretty relevant to my question, which was about starting a new project. I spent some time just looking at the card, thinking about what it could mean, and writing down my thoughts in my journal.
- Choose the deck – Find a deck you connect with.
- Learn the basics – Major and Minor Arcana, 78 cards total.
- Set the mood – Candle, crystals, whatever feels right.
- Shuffle and ask – Focus on your question.
- Draw and reflect – What does the card say to you?
Honestly, the whole experience was way more interesting than I expected. It wasn’t like, spooky or anything, but it did give me a new perspective on my situation. It’s like the cards helped me tap into my own intuition a bit more. And I keep practicing reading one card a day, which not only helps me learn the tarot in a fun way, but it’s a great meditation practice.
I’m definitely going to keep practicing with these cards. Maybe I’ll even try doing readings for my friends sometime! It’s a fun way to explore your inner self and maybe get some guidance along the way, It’s been a pretty cool experience so far.
