I got nothing to do today, so I decided to give this “Runes of Magic” game a try. I’ve heard some buzz about it and thought, “Why not?” First things first, I had to get into the game. Once I logged in, I needed to pick a server. Pretty standard stuff for online games.
After selecting my server, it was time to create my character. They got humans, elves, and dwarves. I went with a human ’cause, you know, gotta represent! When you start, you pick your first class. They got warrior, scout, priest, knight, mage, warden, druid, or rogue. I chose a mage, always loved the idea of slinging spells. The real kicker is when you hit level 10. That’s when you can add a second class. So, I leveled up, grinding away, and finally got to choose my secondary class. Ended up picking priest to go with my mage. Figured a little healing magic wouldn’t hurt alongside those fireballs.
They say you can have up to six classes, but only two active at once. I guess that makes you pretty well-rounded. There’s this guy, Johnny Dutin, in the Hall of the Eye of Wisdom in a place called Varanas. They said he’s the one to talk to if you want a third class. Haven’t gotten that far yet, though.
Here’s what I did step-by-step:
- Logged in and picked a server.
- Created my character: a human mage.
- Played until level 10.
- Chose priest as my secondary class.
A Few Observations
The game throws you right into the action, but it’s not overwhelming. It is kind of cool to have this mix-and-match class system. Makes you think about what combos would work best. I’m still figuring things out, but it’s been a fun ride so far. I might try to get that third class eventually, but for now, I’m happy blasting enemies with spells and keeping myself healed up. All in all, not a bad way to spend a day off.
