Desert Totem: What is it? Your Easy Guide to This Cool Concept!

Okay, so I wanted to get into this whole desert totem thing in the game I’m playing. I’d heard some folks talking about it, and it sounded pretty darn useful. So, first thing I did was pony up the dough to buy the recipe. Man, that was not cheap! But I figured, you know, gotta spend money to make money, right?

Then I looked at what I needed to actually make one of these totems. Two pieces of hardwood and four iridium ore. Hardwood I had a bit of, but iridium? That’s a whole other story. I went mining like a madman, hitting every rock I could find, hoping to get lucky. After a few days of this, I finally had enough iridium ore. I also went and bought some desert totems directly from the desert trader. It cost me three Omni geodes each. Not ideal, but I was getting impatient.

Desert Totem: What is it? Your Easy Guide to This Cool Concept!

Turns out, there are actually five different totems: desert, island, mountain, beach, and farm. I spent the time to make each of them.

  • The farm totem, it is not too bad. Just 20 fibers, 1 honey, and 1 piece of hardwood. Easy peasy.
  • But for the island totem, I needed a dragon tooth. And let me tell you, finding a dragon tooth is no walk in the park. I had to go into the volcano and look around the dragon remains. Spooky stuff.

Finally, I crafted all five different types of totems. Placed them down, tried them out, and bam! Instant teleportation. It felt pretty awesome, not gonna lie. No more long walks across the map.

I even found this weird bug where using the desert obelisk or totem doesn’t reset the area each time I go to the desert. It’s kinda weird but also kinda useful in a way.

So yeah, that’s my whole journey with these desert totems. It was a bit of a grind, but totally worth it in the end. Now I’m zipping around the map like nobody’s business. If you’re thinking about getting into totems, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared to put in some work!
