How to choose your druidic totem, useful tips and tricks for beginners.
Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this druid build, right? And I’m trying to make this whole “druidic totem” thing work. It’s been… a journey, let me tell you.
First off, I started by trying to figure out what I wanted this druid to even do. Was it gonna be some kind of spell-slinging beast? Or more of a melee fighter with some nature magic on the side? I spent a good chunk of time just reading through forums and stuff, trying to get a feel for what other people were doing.
Then I started experimenting. I equipped my druid with a bunch of different items, trying to see what worked and what didn’t. Some folks online were saying that I should focus on specific stats, so I tried that. But then others were saying that gear isn’t everything, and you should just grab whatever rare stuff you can find. Honestly, it was all a bit confusing.
One thing I did notice was that using a one-handed weapon and a totem seemed to be better than a two-hander. You can get some extra lucky hit chance, cooldown reduction, crit chance or increased attack speed on totems. These were a big help when you’re trying to spam those spells. Plus it just felt more “druidy” to me, you know? Holding a staff in one hand and a cool-looking totem in the other.
I also messed around with the skills. If you turn on advanced tooltips, you’ll find that almost all attacks are based on your weapon. I tried a bunch of different combinations, but I found that focusing on a few key spells worked best. I mean, you can change your spells on a long rest, so it’s not like you’re stuck with them forever.
- I remember one time, I got into this big fight with a bunch of monsters, and I was getting my butt kicked.
- So I used my reaction and a spell slot to summon a totem, and it totally saved me.
- The monsters started attacking the totem instead of me, and I was able to heal up and turn the tables. It was pretty epic.
The biggest tip, though, is probably just to experiment. There’s no one “right” way to play a totemic druid. It all depends on what you enjoy. And don’t be afraid to try out some of the less popular spells, you might be surprised at what works.
But here’s the thing, Wisdom is key. I mean, duh, it’s a druid. But really, pumping up your Wisdom stat helps with everything. More spell slots, more powerful spells, better skills like Perception and Survival. It’s a no-brainer. I learned this one the hard way, trust me.
For newbies, I’d say go with a Land Druid first. It’s simpler, you can just focus on the spells and not worry too much about the whole Wild Shape thing. Get a feel for the class, then branch out.
Anyway, that’s my experience with the whole druidic totem thing. It’s been a wild ride, but I’m finally starting to get the hang of it. If you’re thinking about trying it out, I say go for it! Just be prepared to experiment, and don’t get discouraged if things don’t work out right away. It’s all part of the fun.
