So I’ve been wanting to get my hands on those horde totems in FFXIV for a while now. I mean, who wouldn’t? They’re the key to getting some pretty sweet loot. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey.
First, I started by hitting up the vendor in Limsa Lominsa. I thought, “Easy peasy, I’ll just buy them.” Nope. Turns out, you gotta earn these bad boys. They are not for sale.
I learned that you get a Resilient Totem each time you beat a trial. So, I started grinding those trials. Over and over. I fought Ravana, Thordan, Nidhogg, all those big baddies. Let me tell you, it was tough. But with each victory, I got a totem. Each time you beat the trial you’ll receive a Resilient Totem, and with 99 of these, you’ll eventually be able to purchase the mount from a vendor in Solution Nine named Uah’shepya.
I also discovered that some of these totems could be traded in Idyllshire and Rhalgr’s Reach. I swapped 99 of them with Bertana and Eschina for some cool primal mounts. It felt good to finally get something tangible for all my hard work.
Then there’s this thing called the Horde Totem, specifically related to Nidhogg. I found out it’s used by those heretics in their rituals. Creepy, right? But also kind of cool in a dark way. These Horde Totems are dropped by the Nidhogg trial.
- Step 1: Farm the trials. This was the longest part.
- Step 2: Collect those Resilient Totems. Each trial win gets you one.
- Step 3: Trade them in. 99 totems for a mount? Yes, please!
- Step 4: Get that Horde Totem from the Nidhogg trial.
Someone told me about farming goblins in the Stillwater area for quick leveling, but that’s a whole other story. I was focused on these totems.
I heard about trading 10 totems for weapons, and 99 for exclusive mounts. I did exactly that. The grind was real, but totally worth it. After 109 runs worst… It’s a pain, but a worthy one.
There was a database I used, the Eorzea Database, to look up quests and items. Super helpful. I also learned about farming Allagan Tomestones, but that’s a rabbit hole I haven’t gone down yet.
Finally Got Them
After all that grinding, I finally got enough totems to get the mounts and weapons I wanted. It was a long process, but man, the feeling of accomplishment was amazing. Plus, those mounts look sick!
So yeah, that’s my story about farming horde totems in FFXIV. It was a wild ride, but I’d do it all over again for those rewards. If you’re thinking about doing it, be prepared for a grind, but trust me, it’s worth it in the end.
