Hey folks, so I finally got my hands on the 2024 DVD of “You Can’t Run Forever,” and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. I’ve been seeing stuff about this movie all over the internet, especially about J.K. Simmons being in it. Academy Award winner, you know? So, naturally, I was pretty hyped.
First off, I ordered the DVD online. It arrived pretty quickly, standard shipping, nothing fancy. The cover looks intense, with this girl, Miranda, looking terrified in the woods. It definitely sets the mood. I popped it into my DVD player, grabbed some popcorn – because, movie night essentials – and hit play.
The movie starts with Miranda. She’s got some serious anxiety issues, and you quickly find out it’s because of some past tragedy. Poor girl. The movie does a decent job of making you feel for her from the get-go. Then, bam! This serial killer shows up and decides she’s his next target. Talk about bad luck, right?

- Read some reviews online. Mixed bag, but I wanted to see it for myself.

The whole middle part of the movie is basically this intense chase through the woods. Lots of running, hiding, and some pretty close calls. Honestly, there were a few times I jumped, not gonna lie. The suspense was there, for sure. I will say that the plot was a bit simple. Some say it’s a thriller about the strength of family and the astonishing power of the human spirit. I guess that’s one way to put it.
Now, I won’t spoil the ending for you, but let’s just say it wasn’t exactly what I expected. It was alright, but maybe not as mind-blowing as some of the other thrillers I’ve seen.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, “You Can’t Run Forever” is a watchable movie. It’s got some good suspense, and J.K. Simmons is always great, even though I felt like his character could have been developed a bit more. It didn’t blow me away, but it kept me entertained for a couple of hours. If you’re into thrillers, you might enjoy it. Just don’t go in expecting a masterpiece. You know how it is. Some movies are just okay. But hey, at least I can add it to my movie collection!
