Hey, everyone! It’s me again, your old buddy here, back with another one of my little experiments. So, the other day I was thinking, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a tool that could just spit out interpretations for different tarot card combinations? You know, like when you pull two cards and want to see how they play off each other? Yeah, I know there are tons of books and websites out there that do this, but I wanted to try making my own. Call it a DIY project, I guess.
I got this crazy idea while I was doing a reading for myself. I kept flipping through my tarot guidebook trying to cross-reference things, and it was just taking forever. That’s when the lightbulb went off. I thought, “Why not just make a Tarot Combinations Calculator?”
I started by just playing around with it. I mean, I’m no coder, but I figured I could at least get the basic idea down. I thought of making a simple program where you could just type in the names of two cards, click a button, and boom, there’s your interpretation. I decided to start the process.
Getting the hang of it
- First, I wrote down all the cards in the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.
- Then, I spent hours, and I mean hours, going through my tarot books and notes, jotting down keywords and meanings for each card.
- After that, I started thinking about how two cards might interact. For example, what would The Lovers mean when paired with The Devil? Or The Star with The Tower? It was mind-boggling but also super fun.
To be honest, the first few tries were rough. I mean, we are talking about the rough draft, I kept running into problems with how to organize the data. It was a mess, to say the least. But I kept at it, tweaking things here and there. I tried different ways to put the combinations together. It wasn’t pretty, but it was starting to take shape.
I decided I needed a better way to organize all this info. I made a spreadsheet and started plugging in all the card meanings and combinations. And then after testing it a lot, I realized I can actually use it to come up with a basic framework for the calculator.
After many trials and many errors, and a few late nights fueled by coffee, I finally had something that resembled a working Tarot Combinations Calculator. I tested it out by entering different card combinations and comparing the results to what I found in my tarot books and what I usually tell people when I read for them. It wasn’t perfect, but it was surprisingly accurate most of the time. It is so cool to see something I made actually work!
It’s not perfect, of course. There are still some kinks to work out, and I’m sure there are plenty of combinations I haven’t even thought of yet. But overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a fun little tool that I think other tarot enthusiasts might enjoy playing around with. Maybe one day I’ll even turn it into a real app or something. But for now, it’s just a fun little project that I’m excited to share with you all.
