First off, I tried just buying the rune arrowheads. I’ve found that the best place to grab these is usually at shops. The ranging guild shop, for example, it is the best place to buy. I could usually find them for about 249 GP each, but it seemed like they only had about 50 per world. They will restock, but it takes a little while. If you are in a hurry you could try hopping worlds to find them. I also went to Lowe’s Archery Emporium in Varrock and Hickton’s Archery Emporium in Catherby. They had some, but the prices were a bit steeper, and the stock was just as limited. It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
I did stumble upon a way to get them through the Maze random event. Honestly, I found that it’s a bit of a crapshoot, and I wouldn’t rely on it if you’re trying to get a bunch of arrowheads quickly. It is a nice little bonus, though.
Saving Some Money
Now, here’s a little trick I figured out. If you’re into fletching and have a level of 75, you can save a good chunk of change. I noticed that rune arrowheads at the Ranging Guild were going for 200 GP, compared to 400 GP for the completed rune arrows. So I’ve been buying the arrowheads and fletching them myself. It’s not a bad way to grind that fletching skill, and it keeps a bit of extra gold in your pocket.
Why Bother with Rune Arrows?
You might be thinking, “Why go through all this trouble for rune arrows?” Well, let me tell you, they pack a punch. They’re way stronger than those adamant arrows, and they are the best you can get in Free-to-play. I like using a magic shortbow, and these rune arrows make for a pretty sweet combo. Plus I do like the process of making them. It makes me feel a bit more involved with the game.
