Alright, let’s talk about the day I played around with the Celtic Tarot. I picked up this deck a while back, lured by the pretty pictures, honestly. The cards had these Celtic knots and mythical creatures, all very mystical and cool-looking, so I thought, why not give it a go?
First off, I grabbed the deck and shuffled the cards. I’m no expert, so I didn’t do anything fancy, just mixed them up good and proper. Then, I laid them out in that Celtic Cross spread. I’d seen it online and it looked kinda complicated, but I figured it couldn’t be that hard. Each position is supposed to tell you something different, like about your past, present, future, and all that jazz. The first card I flipped over is all about me and the current vibes of my life. The second card is supposed to be about what is currently blocking me or my obstacles. Then you got cards for the past and future, which are pretty self-explanatory, I guess.
So, I started flipping over the cards one by one. The artwork is pretty neat, I gotta say. Lots of green and gold, warriors, and mystical symbols. Each card is supposed to represent something, like some of them are about challenges, some about opportunities, and others about influences in your life. I laid out ten cards in total for the full spread. The first one was some warrior guy holding a sword, which the little booklet said represents “me” or my current situation. I spent a good half hour just going through each card, trying to make sense of it all.
- Card 1: A warrior dude, supposed to represent me.
- Card 2: Some lady with a chalice, which apparently is about my challenges.
- Card 3 & 4: These two were about my past and future.
I read through the descriptions in the booklet that came with the deck, trying to piece together the story they were telling. It’s a bit like reading a weird, symbolic version of your own life. Honestly, it was a bit of a head-scratcher. Some of it kinda made sense, like when it talked about overcoming obstacles—I’ve definitely had a few of those lately. But then other parts were just confusing. Like, what does a guy holding a pentacle have to do with my future? No clue.
After laying out all the cards, I just sat there, looking at them, trying to see if anything clicked. I tried to connect the dots between the cards and what’s been going on in my life. Did it give me some grand revelation about my destiny? Not really. But it was a fun little exercise. It’s like a game, in a way, where you try to find meaning in the randomness.
In the end, I packed up the cards, feeling a bit more entertained than enlightened. Maybe I didn’t become a Tarot master overnight, but it was definitely an interesting way to spend an afternoon. It was definitely an interesting experience. I wouldn’t say it changed my life or anything, but it’s a cool deck to have. Plus, the pictures are really something else. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime, see if I get any better at it. Or maybe I’ll just use them as fancy bookmarks. Who knows?
