Next, I started adding the numbers. Month first: June is the 6th month, so that’s a 6. Then the day, which is 15, so 1+5 = 6. Finally, the year 2024: 2+0+2+4 = 8. Okay, so we’ve got 6, 6, and 8.
Now, the instructions I found said to add these numbers together. So, 6+6+8 = 20. I was actually getting into this. It felt like I was doing some kind of mystical math, not just regular old addition.
Then, if the number is greater than 22, you have to add those digits together. Since 20 is less than 22, that is my number! I read that this should correspond with a Major Arcana card in the tarot deck. So, 20 is the Judgement card.
I pulled out my tarot deck, the one I picked up at a local shop. I always look at the art on these cards, and they make me feel some kind of magic way. It’s a bit spooky but also kind of hopeful, you know?

I found that card too, and it shows a woman calmly interacting with a lion. It’s supposed to represent inner strength, courage, and patience. That actually feels pretty reassuring, especially with all the crazy stuff going on in the world.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll be doing this every year, but it was a fun little experiment. It got me thinking about my goals and what I want to focus on in the coming months. Plus, it gave me an excuse to look at my tarot cards, which is always a good time.
So, yeah, that’s how I found my Tarot Card of the Year. It was a simple process, just some basic addition and a little bit of intuition.
