So, I’ve been getting into running lately. Nothing crazy, just trying to stay active, you know? I figured a 5k would be a good way to start, not too intense but still a challenge. I live near Seattle, so I started looking for 5k runs in the area.
First, I searched online for upcoming 5k races around Seattle. There are tons of websites that list this kind of stuff. I found a few that looked promising. One was at Green Lake Park, which is a really nice spot for a run. They had one coming up on January 26th, called the “Run Forest Run 5k.” The name alone is great, right? So I checked the race’s website for more info. They had all the details – start time, route map, registration fees, etc.
I also looked into other races. There are so many options! Some are themed, some are for charity, some are just for fun. You can really find whatever you’re looking for. I learned that a 5k is 3.1 miles, which is 12.5 laps on a standard track. Seems doable, I guess.
After comparing a few different races, I decided to sign up for the one at Green Lake. It seemed like a good fit for me, and the timing worked out. I filled out the registration form online, paid the fee, and boom, I was in!
Now, I need to actually train for this thing. I started by running a couple of times a week, just to get my body used to it. I’m not trying to break any records, just want to finish the race and feel good about it.

Finally, I crossed the finish line! It felt amazing. I was tired, sweaty, but so proud of myself. I even got a medal! It wasn’t about the time, it was about setting a goal and achieving it.
