Alright, so I’ve been messing around with these new “war runes” in the Season of Discovery thing for World of Warcraft, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. A couple weeks back, Blizzard decided to throw us a bone during Winter Veil and dropped a bunch of new runes, including some for us Warriors.
First things first, I had to actually get my hands on these runes. For the main ones, I went on a hunt, searching high and low, hitting up dungeons and taking down bosses. I snagged the Handbook of Commanding Shout after a few runs, thankfully it can drop from any boss in those high-level dungeons. It felt like forever, but I managed to get all the runes that were available at the time.
Then came the part where I figured out which rune goes where. They added like, 7 new runes just for Warriors in this Phase 3 update, so it’s been a lot of trial and error. Four of these bad boys are for the head slot, two for the wrists, and one for the boots. It was a bit of a puzzle, but I eventually got the hang of slotting them into my gear.
-
Head Runes
- Spent hours figuring out which one worked best for my playstyle.
-
Wrist Runes
- These were a bit easier, only two options to play around with.
-
Boots Rune
- Just the one here, so that was straightforward enough.
Once I had a rune slotted, I saw its abilities pop up in my spellbook, which was pretty cool. They even auto-filled my empty hotbar slots, which saved me some time. I did notice that if I unequipped a piece of gear with a rune, the ability disappeared from my spellbook, which makes sense I guess. You can’t use a rune’s power if it’s not equipped, right?
Oh, and you gotta be level 20 at least to even start messing with these runes. I remember running into this vendor, Grizzby, in Ratchet, and he was the key to getting started with some of this. Had a good chat with him, and that got the ball rolling.
So yeah, that’s been my experience so far with these war runes. It’s been a lot of grinding, a lot of experimenting, but it’s definitely added a new layer to the game. If you’re a Warrior in Season of Discovery, I’d say dive in and see what you can discover. Just be prepared to put in the work!
