Today, I’m gonna share with you guys something I messed around with recently – figuring out just how hot this Esoteric F1 thing runs. You know, I’ve been using this integrated amplifier for a while, and I always feel the heat coming off it. So, I got curious and decided to do a little experiment.
First off, I needed a way to measure the temperature. I found these cool little temperature-sensitive labels. You just stick ’em on, and they change color to show the temperature. Pretty neat, huh? They say they’re accurate to within about 1.5 degrees Celsius, which is good enough for what I needed.
So, I slapped one of these labels onto the top of the Esoteric F1. I figured that’s where it would get the hottest. Then, I just went about my day, listening to music and watching some videos, just like I usually do. I made sure to crank up the volume a bit, push it a little harder than normal to see if that made a difference.
- Initially I’m using the Esoteric F1 like normal listening.
- Then, I turn up the volume louder to push it harder.
- Observing the label’s color changes and record the temperature.
After a few hours, I checked the label. It was showing a temperature somewhere around 50 degrees Celsius. That’s 122 degrees Fahrenheit for you Americans. Pretty toasty, right? I kept an eye on it throughout the day, and it stayed in that range, sometimes creeping up to 55 degrees, maybe even close to 60 when I really pushed it.
Now, I’m no expert, but from what I’ve read, this is pretty normal for these kinds of amplifiers. They do generate a lot of heat, especially when you’re driving them hard. And it makes sense, all that electrical energy has to go somewhere, right?
I also did some digging online, just to see what others have experienced. And yeah, it seems like most people are seeing similar temperatures. Some folks even use external fans to help keep things cool, especially if they’re running the amp in a confined space.
My takeaway from all this?
Well, the Esoteric F1 does run hot, but it’s nothing to be too worried about, as long as you’re giving it enough ventilation. I mean, it’s designed to handle these temperatures. But it’s still a good idea to keep an eye on it, especially if you’re pushing it hard for extended periods. Maybe stick one of those temperature labels on there, just for peace of mind. It’s a simple way, but at least I know how hot does it run and what should I do next. That’s it, hope my sharing helps you guys somehow.
