Easy Tarot Card Decan Reading: Learn the Basics and Improve Your Skills Fast!
I’ve been messing around with Tarot cards lately, it’s quite a thing. You know, I wanted to dive deeper into this whole Tarot card reading business, especially the concept of “decan.” Sounds fancy, right? So, I grabbed a standard deck of Tarot cards and got to work.
First off, I realized that to get this decan thing down, I needed to actually know the cards. Not just know them, but like, really know them. So I started by just going through each card, one by one. I looked at the pictures, read up a bit on what they’re supposed to mean. It was a bit of a slog at first, not gonna lie. 78 cards is a lot to take in.
Then I thought, okay, there’s gotta be a better way to do this. I tried a bunch of different things. I made flashcards, because who doesn’t love a good flashcard? I even tried to just read the cards for myself every day, hoping that would help things stick. It kinda worked, but it was slow going.
- I started with the Major Arcana. You know, The Fool, The Magician, all those big-name cards. Figured those were the heavy hitters, so best to get them out of the way first.
- Then I tackled the Minor Arcana. That’s where the decans really come in. Each of the suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles) is divided into three decans, which are basically like little sub-groups. Each decan is associated with a particular astrological sign.
- I made a big chart. Yes, an actual physical chart with colored pens and everything. I know, I know, very old school. But it helped! I wrote down each card, its meaning, its decan, and its astrological sign.
- I had to look up the meanings and associations. I’m not gonna pretend I just magically knew all this stuff.
My Little System
After doing all that, I started to test myself. I’d shuffle the deck, pull a card, and try to remember everything about it. It was rough at first. I kept mixing up the suits and forgetting which decan went with which sign. But I kept at it. I practiced every day, even if it was just for a few minutes.
Slowly but surely, it started to click. I could look at a card and not just see the picture, but also its meaning, its decan, and its astrological connection. It felt like I was finally getting it! It’s a cool feeling, let me tell you. To go from knowing nothing to actually understanding something. It’s not just about memorizing stuff, it’s about seeing how it all fits together, how the cards tell a story.
And now? Well, I wouldn’t call myself a master or anything, but I definitely feel more confident with the cards. I can do a reading for myself or a friend and actually have an idea of what’s going on. It’s a fun hobby, and it’s taught me a lot about myself, too. If you’re thinking about getting into Tarot, I say go for it. Just be prepared to put in the work. But trust me, it’s worth it.
