Top Cho Gath Aram Runes: Tips to Win More Matches!

Alright, so I wanted to mess around with Cho’Gath in ARAM today and I needed to figure out some runes. I don’t really play this guy much, so it was a bit of a head-scratcher at first.

First thing I did was open up the game. Then I jumped into an ARAM game just to see what felt right. I knew I wanted him to be beefy, you know, a real meat shield. So I started thinking about what runes would help with that.

I figured Grasp of the Undying would be a good keystone. It gives you extra health, and you can proc it pretty easily in those constant ARAM brawls. Plus, that little bit of extra damage doesn’t hurt either. Then I went with Demolish because, well, Cho’Gath is all about taking towers and this just helps with that even more. Felt pretty obvious.

For the next row, I was torn between Conditioning and Second Wind. Both seemed okay for a tanky build. Ended up going with Conditioning, the extra armor and magic resist felt like the better long-term play. Last in that tree was Overgrowth. More health? Yes, please! Especially in ARAM where there are lots of minions to kill.

Then, I had to pick a secondary tree. I thought about it for a bit, and Precision felt like a decent choice. I grabbed Triumph for that little bit of health back after a kill. That can be clutch in those big teamfights. Then, Legend: Tenacity was the other one I took, because nobody likes getting stunned or slowed, right? Especially not a giant monster who needs to get in and smash things.

  • Primary Tree (Resolve)
    • Grasp of the Undying
    • Demolish
    • Conditioning
    • Overgrowth
  • Secondary Tree (Precision)
    • Triumph
    • Legend: Tenacity

So, after trying these in the game, it felt pretty good! I was super tanky, could soak up a ton of damage, and still dish out some pain. It wasn’t anything crazy, but it was definitely solid for a first try. I might tweak things a bit later, maybe try Bone Plating instead of Conditioning, but for now, this is my go-to Cho’Gath ARAM setup.

The game went well, we won. I felt pretty impactful and I think the runes were a big part of that. I felt nearly unkillable. I will definitely be playing more Cho’Gath in ARAM. It was a blast!
