Alright, so the other day I got it into my head that I wanted to try out this whole “The Hermetic Tarot” thing. I’ve always been a little curious about tarot, and this deck just looked so cool with all its intricate designs. First Impressions
When the deck finally arrived, I ripped open the package like a kid on Christmas morning. - Cleanse the Space: First, I tried to, you know, “cleanse” my space. I don’t have any sage or anything, so I just lit a candle and opened a window. Figured that was good enough.
- Shuffle and Focus: Then came the shuffling. I shuffled the deck while trying to focus on a question. I just went with a general “What do I need to know today?” kind of question.
- Draw and Interpret: I cut the deck into three piles and then drew one card from the top of each pile, laid them out from left to right. I spent like 20 minutes staring at these cards. I pulled the “Seven of Cups”, the “King of Wands” and “The World”. I had to look them up online, but it was like putting a puzzle together. The “Seven of Cups” talked about choices and illusions, and the “King of Wands” seemed to represent leadership and vision, “The World” was about completion and wholeness. I started to try to figure out what they might mean in my life.
Making Sense of It All
Honestly, the whole thing was kind of intense. But also super interesting. I mean the interpretation of the cards seemed to resonate with some stuff that had been on my mind lately, but also opened up new ways to look at things. I don’t think I’ll become a professional tarot reader anytime soon, but it was definitely a cool experience. I think I’ll keep practicing, maybe try some more complex spreads. Who knows, maybe this will become a new little hobby of mine. It is a cool experience, right?
