Discover the Iconic Toteme Shearling Collection

Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here… uh… Tot-em thing, yeah, Toteme. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a dusty old attic, but folks say it’s fancy. Started by some Swedish couple, Elin and Karl, back in 2014. Don’t know ’em from Adam, but they make clothes, simple-like clothes, they say. Minimalistic, that’s the word they use. Means plain, I reckon.

Now, they got this shear-lin’ stuff. Sounds like shearin’ sheep, don’t it? And that’s pretty much what it is, far as I can tell. They take them little lambs, softest ones they can find, and use their skin. Poor little things. But folks seem to like it. Makes for a warm jacket, I guess. Warm enough to keep you cozy on a cold winter’s night, even when the wind’s howlin’ like a banshee.

They say it’s expensive, this shear-lin’. Course it is! You’re takin’ the skin off a lamb! That ain’t cheap, no sirree. And the softer the lamb, the more it costs. Seems like the world’s gone crazy, payin’ a fortune for a lamb’s coat, but hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two.

So, they take that lambskin, and they tan it, whatever that means. And dye it, make it all sorts of colors, I suppose. Then you got this leather-like stuff on one side, and this soft, wooly stuff on the other. It’s fur, plain and simple. Just like them fancy folks in the city wear. They call it suede or leather, but it’s still just lambskin.

  • They say it’s soft. Well, I reckon lambskin ought to be soft.
  • They say it’s warm. Well, fur’s gonna be warm, ain’t it?
  • They say it’s stylish. Stylish? Humph. Looks like somethin’ my grandma used to wear, only hers didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Sheepskin and shearling, they say there’s a difference. One’s from a lamb, one’s from a sheep. Lamb’s softer, I guess. But it’s all the same to me. Skin with wool on it. Nothin’ more, nothin’ less.

Now, you can find this shear-lin’ stuff everywhere, they say. Even on that Amazon place. Never used it myself, but my grandkids are always talkin’ about it. Seems like you can buy anything there these days. Free shippin’ too, they say. Imagine that! Back in my day, you had to walk five miles to the store, and you were lucky if they had what you needed.

Folks say Toteme is all about this “trans-seasonal design.” Don’t know what that means, sounds like fancy talk to me. I guess it means you can wear it whenever, rain or shine, summer or winter. But I tell ya, a lambskin coat in the summer? You’d be sweatin’ like a pig in a smokehouse!

This whole thing, it just reminds me of the old days. We used to use everything from the animals, nothin’ went to waste. But we didn’t pay a king’s ransom for it neither. Nowadays, everything’s got a fancy name and a fancy price tag. But it’s still just lambskin, folks. Just lambskin.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this Toteme and their shear-lin’ stuff. Don’t know if it’s worth the money, but folks seem to like it. Me? I’ll stick to my old wool sweater. Keeps me warm enough, and it didn’t cost me a month’s wages. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
