Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Carnival at the End of the World Tarot deck. It ain’t like them regular cards, ya know? First off, the pictures, they’re somethin’ else. Got all sorts of strange critters on ’em, like from some old fairy tale or somethin’. Not the pretty kind, mind you. More like the kind that’d give ya goosebumps.
They call it a “unique art deck,” this fella who sold it to me did. Said it ain’t the cheapest neither. And he was right about that. Cost me a pretty penny, but I figured, what the heck. I always liked them fortune tellin’ things, even if I don’t understand half of it.
So, this deck, it’s got these… tarot cards, right? But they ain’t like the ones my grandma used to have. Hers was all plain and simple. These here, they’re all colorful and wild. Like a crazy dream you can’t quite remember. Some of ’em are kinda scary, to be honest. Got this one with a big ol’ monster lookin’ fella, and another with a bunch of creepy crawlies. But some are kinda pretty too, in a strange sort of way. Like this one with a lady wearin’ a bird mask. Makes ya wonder what it all means, ya know?
Now, I ain’t no expert on this tarot stuff. I just shuffle the cards and see what comes up. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it don’t. But this deck, it feels different. Like it’s got a story to tell, even if I don’t know how to listen to it properly. It’s like… it pulls ya in. You look at them pictures and you start thinkin’ ’bout all sorts of things. Life, death, what comes after, all that kinda stuff.
- The pictures are real somethin’ else.
- Got all kinds of weird creatures.
- Ain’t the cheapest deck around, that’s for sure.
And the cards themselves, they’re sturdy. Not flimsy like some I’ve seen. They got a good weight to ’em, feel nice in your hand. The guy who sold ’em to me said they’d last a long time, and I reckon he was tellin’ the truth. They feel like they could withstand a bit of wear and tear, which is good, ’cause I ain’t exactly the most careful person.
I tried usin’ ’em a few times, ya know, for readin’s. I ain’t got a clue what most of them cards mean, so I just looked at the pictures and made somethin’ up. And wouldn’t you know it, sometimes it worked! My neighbor, she was all worried about her son, and I did a readin’ for her with this deck. Pulled a card with a bunch of sunshine on it, and I told her, “Don’t you worry none, things’ll turn out alright.” And sure enough, her son got that job he was after. Now, I ain’t sayin’ it was the cards, but it sure made her feel better.
This Carnival at the End of the World Tarot ain’t for everyone, that’s for sure. It’s kinda dark, kinda strange. But if you like them things that make ya think, and you ain’t afraid of a little bit of weirdness, then you might just like this deck. It’s like lookin’ into a mirror, and seein’ somethin’ different every time. Somethin’ that makes ya wonder what’s real and what ain’t. And sometimes, that ain’t such a bad thing.
Anyway, that’s my take on it. It’s just a bunch of cards, I know. But they’re pretty cards, and they make me think. And sometimes, that’s all ya need. So if you ever come across this deck, maybe give it a try. You might be surprised what you find.
One more thing I forgot to mention. The cards they are a bit bigger than the usual ones so that makes the pictures stand out more I reckon, and makes it easier for old eyes like mine to see what’s goin on in them. It’s just a small detail but I thought it was worth mentionin.
Oh and another thing, the fella said something about it ‘linking’ to the tarot, whatever that means. Maybe that’s why the readin’s seem to work sometimes, even when I ain’t got a clue what I’m doin’. Like it’s got some kind of magic in it or somethin’. I don’t rightly know, but it’s somethin’ to think about ain’t it?
