DIY Marble Run Game Wooden: Build Your Own Track!

Okay, so I tried to make a marble run game out of wood. I saw some videos online, and I thought it would be a fun little project to do.

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I found some old wood pieces in my garage, the kind you’d use for, you know, building things. Then I grabbed some pool noodles – yeah, the ones you use in the pool – because I saw someone online use them, and they looked perfect. They’re all flexible, and if you cut them in half, a marble can roll down real smooth. I found some at the dollar store. I also picked up some duct tape, some cardboard, and a bunch of other random stuff from around the house that I thought might come in handy.

Next, I cleared out a big space on one of my walls. I wanted to make sure I had enough room for the marble run. Then, I started thinking about how I wanted the marble to go down. I mean, you gotta have a plan, right? I didn’t draw anything out, I just kinda figured it out in my head. I wanted it to be a bit complex, not just a straight line down.

  • Cut the pool noodles in half with a knife. This was kinda tricky, but I managed.
  • Started taping the cardboard and other stuff to the wall, making different paths.
  • Tested it out with a marble as I went along.

Building it was a bit of a mess. I started taping stuff to the wall, trying to make cool paths for the marble. I used the pool noodles as like, the main tracks, and then added in other bits and pieces to make it more interesting. I had this idea that the slower the marble went, the cooler it would be. But it also couldn’t stop, so that was a bit of a challenge.

It took a few hours, and a lot of trial and error. I kept having to adjust things, move stuff around. Sometimes the marble would fly off, and I’d have to rethink the whole section. And let me tell you, duct tape is not easy to move once it’s stuck! But I kept at it. I really wanted to see this thing work.

Final Result

In the end, I finally got it working! It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty cool to watch the marble go down all the twists and turns. It was way slower than I expected, which was awesome. I even added a little cup at the end to catch the marble. It felt good to make something with my own hands, you know? It’s not the fanciest thing in the world, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a fun little thing to mess around with, and I learned a lot from doing it. Maybe I’ll try to make a bigger one next time!
