Okay, so I recently checked out Madison House in Totem Lake, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I’ve been helping my grandma look for a senior living place, and this one came up on our radar. We decided to go take a look, just to see what it was all about.
First off, we drove there, and finding the place was easy peasy. It’s right in Kirkland, not far from the freeway, so that’s a plus. The building itself is pretty big, and it looked well-maintained from the outside. So far, so good.
We walked in, and the lobby area was nice and welcoming. There was a lady at the front desk who greeted us with a smile. We told her we were interested in learning more about the place, and she was super helpful. She grabbed some brochures and showed us around.
We saw a few different room options. They have studios, one-bedrooms, and even some two-bedroom apartments. They all seemed pretty cozy and had their own bathrooms, which is important for Grandma. I noticed they all had these emergency call buttons, which is a good safety feature.

Then, we checked out the common areas. They’ve got a dining room that looked like a restaurant, a library, a game room, and even a little fitness center. Grandma likes to stay active, so seeing the fitness room was a big deal. The lady at the desk mentioned they have all sorts of activities, like movie nights, book clubs, and even outings to local spots. Sounds like there’s always something to do!
We also talked about the care services. They offer assisted living, which means they can help with things like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders. That’s exactly what Grandma needs, so it was good to hear. They also have staff on-site 24/7, so there’s always someone around if there’s an emergency.
They said the price was somewhere between $2,410 and $7,000 a month.
That is a big price range,I need to think about it.
Overall, I was pretty impressed with Madison House. It seems like a nice, comfortable place with plenty of amenities and good care options. Grandma seemed to like it too, which is the most important thing. We’re still looking at a few other places, but Madison House is definitely on the short list. It’s a big decision, so we want to make sure we choose the right place for her.
