Today, I wanted to mess around with something called “Open WebUI.” Honestly, I didn’t really know much about it, but it sounded cool, and I figured it would be fun to get it running on my own server. Here’s how I did it.
Starting Up
First things first, I had to get the thing installed. The instructions were pretty straightforward, luckily. They said to use some commands in the terminal. I’m not a huge fan of command-line stuff, but it was pretty simple.
I opened up my terminal and typed in the commands they provided. There were a couple of different options, but I went with the basic one, to keep things simple. I copied and pasted the command into the terminal and hit enter.
Waiting Game
Then came the waiting. It took a while for everything to download and install. I went and grabbed a cup of coffee, and when I came back, it was still chugging along. Finally, after what felt like forever, it finished.
Firing It Up
Once everything was installed, it was time to start it up. Again, the instructions had a command for this. I typed it into the terminal, hit enter, and hoped for the best.
And… it worked! I saw a bunch of text scroll by in the terminal, and then it told me that Open WebUI was running and gave me an address to go to in my browser.
Checking It Out
I opened up my browser and typed in the address. And there it was! The Open WebUI interface loaded up, and it looked pretty slick. There were a bunch of options and settings to play around with, but I didn’t dive too deep into those just yet.
Admin Stuff
I did notice there was something called an “Admin Panel.” I clicked on my little avatar button in the corner, and there it was. It looked like a place where you could change a bunch of settings and manage user accounts. I poked around a bit, but didn’t change anything.
Success!
And that was it! I had successfully gotten Open WebUI up and running on my server. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. The whole process was pretty smooth, and the interface looked pretty nice. I’m excited to play around with it more and see what it can do.
