You Have to See Play Turkey Run High School Art Teachers Slathering Its Crazy

Okay, so, today I want to talk about something that I did at Play Turkey Run High School. You know, I’ve always been into art, and I’ve got this thing for getting my hands dirty, literally.

So, there’s this art teacher there, David, I think his last name is Slotteirman or something like that. Anyway, I heard he’s pretty big on getting students to dive deep into art, not just sticking to the usual stuff.

I decided to check out his class one day. I just walked in, no big plan or anything. The place was buzzing with energy, kids all over, working on different projects. It was a bit chaotic, but in a good way, you know? It felt like a place where you could really let loose and try things out.

I started small, just messing around with some clay. I hadn’t touched clay since I was a kid. Felt kinda weird at first, but then I started to get into it. I was trying to make this weird-looking bird thing. Don’t ask me why, it just felt right at the time. I remember struggling a bit and thinking about giving up, but then I pushed through and kept shaping and molding it.

Getting messy

  • Mixing paints was the next thing I tried. I splashed different colors together, not really knowing what I was doing. It ended up looking like a rainbow threw up on my canvas. I thought it might end up looking horrible, but I surprised myself when the colors started to blend in a cool way.
  • Then, David, the teacher, he came over and started showing me some techniques. He was talking about how art is not just about making something pretty, but it’s about expressing yourself, telling a story, or something like that. I tried to follow his advice and experimented with new methods. I kept adding layers and textures, discovering something new with each brushstroke.
  • The whole experience got me thinking. It’s not every day you get to just let go and do something creative without worrying about whether it’s good or not. I realized that art is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to connect with your inner self and let your emotions flow freely. By the end of the day, I was covered in paint and clay, but I felt great. I worked on this project for hours, losing track of time.

I ended up making a bunch of stuff that day, some of it looked okay, some of it was just weird. But you know what? It didn’t matter. I learned that day that making art is a journey of self-discovery. I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride in what I had created. It was all about the process, about trying things out, making mistakes, and just seeing where things go.

So yeah, that’s my story about Play Turkey Run High School and the art teacher there. It was a good day, a messy day, but a good one. I even surprised myself with what I could do when I just let go. I want to go back and do it again sometime. Maybe I’ll try something totally different next time, who knows? That’s the fun part, right?
