Okay, so, I wanted to mess around with runes, you know, those ancient symbols? I grabbed this book on runes, thinking it would be a piece of cake. I mean, how hard could it be to just look at symbols and get some deep meaning, right? So, first thing I did was get a pouch of runes. It’s just a little bag with these stones that have symbols on them. I held the pouch and tried to think of a question. This was harder than I thought. What do I even ask these things?
I finally came up with something, I guess. I shook the pouch a bit, like the book said, and spilled the runes onto a cloth. They just looked like a bunch of rocks with weird lines on them. The book said to pick the ones that caught my eye. There was this one with a shape like a ‘P’, but it felt like it has other meaning, not just the simple ‘P’. It is so wired. I looked it up in the book. The book was talking about journeys and changes. Okay, I can kind of see that, I guess. It’s not super clear, but I can sort of make a connection.
Trying to Engrave Runes
Then I got this wild idea to try and engrave a rune on something. In the book, it mentioned something about putting runes on objects to give them powers. I grabbed a piece of wood and tried to carve the symbol I picked earlier. Let me tell you, carving is not as easy as it looks! I ended up with a crooked, messy version of the rune. I don’t think it’s going to give this piece of wood any special powers, but hey, I tried. It feels like a waste of time, if you ask me.
My Thoughts on Rune Magic
From what I read, this whole rune thing is about giving physical form to words. Like, you can engrave these symbols to make things magical or cast spells. It sounds pretty cool, to be honest. But I can see how focusing on these symbols and their meanings could help you remember things better or see things from a different perspective. I think i need more time to think about it.
