Alright, folks, gather ’round, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna tell you about my little adventure at the Big Run Golf Course. I’ve been meaning to hit this place up for a while now, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience.
So, first things first, I did a bit of digging around. You know, the usual – checking out their website, looking at some reviews, getting a feel for the place. I found out that if you wanna save some bucks, you gotta be a bit strategic. Apparently, working at a golf course, even part-time, can get you free or heavily discounted rounds. I didn’t go that far, but hey, good to know, right?
Instead, I decided to be a “Weekday Warrior.” I figured, weekdays are probably less crowded, and maybe, just maybe, the prices would be a bit easier on the wallet. I also found out that they offer discounts on “Twilight” rounds, you know those that start in the late afternoon. So, I thought to myself, “Why not give it a shot?”
I packed my clubs, grabbed my lucky golf hat, and headed out to Lockport, Illinois. The address, in case you’re wondering, is 17211 W 135th St. I even had their number saved on my phone – (815) 838-1057. Gotta be prepared, you know?
Now, getting there was a breeze. The place is pretty easy to find, and they’ve got plenty of parking. Once I got there, I headed straight to the Pro Shop. You can purchase gift certificates from them, I even called ahead to check on course availability, I really did my research.
I paid for my round. It wasn’t too bad, considering I was getting the weekday twilight rate. I also found out they have this “Spark” thing where you can pre-pay for credit at a discount. If you play in a league you can buy each week or prepay, I didn’t do that, but it’s an option for those who play regularly.
Game Time
Okay, let’s talk about the course itself. From what I read, Big Run is supposed to be a real test of your skills. Some folks even said it has 8-10 “memorable” holes. I was excited to see what the fuss was all about.
I teed off, and right away, I could tell this wasn’t gonna be your average, everyday round of golf. There were some challenging holes, that’s for sure. I managed to make par on a few, but let’s just say I also had my fair share of bogeys. It’s all part of the game, right?
- The Course: Challenging and well-maintained.
- The Price: Decent, especially with the weekday twilight rate.
- The Amenities: I didn’t really check out the clubhouse, but they do offer lunch and beverage service on the course.
All in all, I had a pretty good time at Big Run. It’s definitely a course I’d recommend to anyone looking for a challenge. Just remember to book in advance, especially if you’re going on a weekend, and if you can play during the week, you might save yourself a few bucks. And hey, if you’re really serious about saving money, maybe look into getting a job there! Just kidding… unless?
