WoW SOD Mage Runes Locations: Easy Guide to Find Them All!

Okay, here’s my experience tracking down those mage runes in WoW SoD, hope this helps someone out there.

So I started playing a mage in Season of Discovery and quickly realized that these new things called “Runes” were a pretty big deal. I mean, who wouldn’t want extra spells and abilities? I’d heard you could find them all over the place, but actually tracking them down was another story.

WoW SOD Mage Runes Locations: Easy Guide to Find Them All!

First, I knew I had to get the Tome of Expanded Intellect, which I heard drops from any boss in high level dungeons. So I started running dungeons like crazy. I teamed up with some guildies, pugged a few groups, you name it. Finally, after a bunch of runs, I got lucky in one of the dungeons and it dropped!

With the Tome in hand, it was time to start hunting for the actual Rune Engravings. I hit up the usual spots, combed through some guides online, asked around in general chat – basically turned into a rune-obsessed detective. I scoured the world, checking every nook and cranny. Talk about a scavenger hunt.

  • Living Flame – Man, this one took some work. I had to find a frozen Murloc. Eventually found it after some serious searching.
  • Regeneration – This bad boy was held by a rare mob. Took me forever to track it down. Finally killed it and got the rune.
  • Icy Veins – Okay, this one involved some real detective work. Had to gather some items, then combine them. It took me quite a lot of time to do so.

Getting all of the runes was a real grind, but so worth it in the end. My mage felt way more powerful, and I was having a blast with all the new abilities.

If you’re a mage in SoD, don’t sleep on those runes! They really do change the game. Just be prepared to put in some serious effort to find them all. Good luck, and happy hunting!
