wow sod priest runes phase 2: whats new and how to get them quickly!

Alright, let’s talk about getting those Priest runes in WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2. I spent the whole weekend grinding it out, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.

First off, I fired up the game on day one, eager to get a head start. I knew there were a bunch of new runes to find, 56 to be exact, and I was determined to snag some for my Priest. I started by scouring my usual spots, revisiting old haunts, and just generally exploring like a madman. No luck. Day one ended with zero new runes, but I wasn’t giving up.

Day two rolled around, and I teamed up with some guildies. We decided to split up and cover more ground. I took the Eastern Kingdoms, and they headed to Kalimdor. We were chatting on Discord, sharing any info we stumbled upon. After a couple of hours, one of my buddies shouted, “I found one!” He stumbled upon it while doing some random quest he’d skipped before. That gave me hope. I figured if he could find one, so could I.

I started focusing on completing quests, especially the ones I had ignored before. I was checking every nook and cranny, talking to every NPC, and basically leaving no stone unturned. Then, late in the day, it happened. I was finishing up a quest chain in the Wetlands, and boom, there it was – a shiny new rune just sitting there, waiting for me. I clicked on it faster than you can say “Lightwell.” It was the Despair rune! Made my day.

  • Despair – Periodic damage from your Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Embrace spells can now be critical strikes.

So, I kept grinding, keeping my eyes peeled. I hit up some dungeons, thinking maybe there were runes hiding in there. No such luck. But hey, I got some decent gear, so it wasn’t a total waste. I did end up finding another rune while running around Dustwallow Marsh. This one was a bit trickier. It involved following a series of clues from a hidden note. It felt like a treasure hunt! But I finally got it, the Mind Spike rune.

  • Mind Spike – Blasts the target for Shadowfrost damage, and increases the critical strike chance of your next Mind Blast on the target. This effect can stack up to 3 times.

By the end of day two, I had a couple of new runes under my belt. Not as many as I’d hoped, but it was a start. Plus, I heard that all 56 runes were discovered by the end of the second day. That’s pretty crazy! I guess some people are just better at this than I am. I did check out some guides online that show where all the runes are, so no more aimless wandering around. No need for spoilers though, I want to have some excitement in finding the runes myself.

Overall, it was a fun, albeit tiring, experience. There’s something satisfying about the hunt, you know? I’m excited to keep playing and see what other runes I can find. Hopefully, I’ll have a full collection soon enough. Happy hunting, everyone!

Phase 2 introduced some cool ones, and these are what I’ve got my hands on:

  • Eye of the Storm – Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting the Mind Flay, Mind Sear, and Mind Spike spells.
  • Pain and Suffering – Mind Blast, Mind Spike, and Mind Flay refresh the duration of your Shadow Word: Pain on the target back to its maximum duration.
  • Void Zone – Summons a void zone in the target area that deals Shadow damage to enemies within it over time.
  • Renewed Hope – Your heals from Flash Heal, Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, and Penance have a chance to apply the Renewed Hope effect to the target, increasing damage taken from the Priest’s next Holy Fire, Smite, or Exorcism spell.
  • Serendipity – Healing with Flash Heal reduces the cast time of your next Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, or Prayer of Healing spell and stacks 3 times. Lasts 20 sec.
  • Mind Spike – Blasts the target for Shadowfrost damage, and increases the critical strike chance of your next Mind Blast on the target. This effect can stack up to 3 times.
  • Despair – Periodic damage from your Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Embrace spells can now be critical strikes.
  • Divine Aegis – Critical heals create a protective shield on the target, absorbing damage.
  • Empowered Renew – Your Renew spell gains an additional percentage of your bonus healing effects, and your Renew ticks have a chance to critically heal.
  • Pain Suppression – Instantly reduces all damage taken by a friendly target and increases resistance to Dispel mechanics for a short duration.
  • Dispersion – You disperse into pure Shadow energy, reducing all damage taken. You are unable to attack or cast spells, but you regenerate mana and health over the duration.

I really wanted to get the Dispersion rune, but I still have not got it. I will definitely be working on getting this rune. I guess I’ll have to keep grinding it out and try to find the rest in phase 3. Wish me luck!
